Verification lifecycle

Verification is a current state, not a permanent title. This page shows every stage a business record can pass through, using only the statuses the TruzBiz application actually supports — and explains what each stage means for the public badge.

Lifecycle stages

  1. Registration
  2. Claim
  3. Evidence
  4. Review
  5. Verification
  6. Ongoing status
  7. Reverification / status change
StageApplication statusWhat it means
RegistrationREGISTEREDThe business record exists in the directory. It is listed — not verified.
ClaimClaim PENDING → APPROVEDA person asserts authority over the record and provides evidence. An approved claim grants control of the listing; it does not confer verified status.
EvidenceDocument UPLOADED → ACCEPTEDSupporting documents are uploaded, stored privately, and reviewed. Only accepted evidence supports a verification decision.
ReviewVerification PENDINGThe submission is under administrative review. The business is not verified while review is in progress.
VerificationVERIFIEDThe review is complete and approved. A check date, renewal date and verification number (TB-XXXX-XXX) are published.
Ongoing statusVERIFIED (within renewal date)The credential reads as current. Anyone can re-check it at www.truzbiz.com/verify/[number] at any time.
Reverification dueVERIFICATION_DUEAnnual renewal is due. The business remains listed as verified while the next check completes; the verification page notes that renewal is in progress.
Status changeEXPIRED · SUSPENDED · REVOKED · REJECTEDExpired: renewal was not completed — the badge is out of date. Suspended: TruzBiz has paused the verification — the badge is not currently valid. Revoked (withdrawn): permanent — the badge is no longer valid and cannot be restored by renewal. Rejected: the review could not be completed — never verified.

Status can change

Whether a verification is current is derived from its check date and renewal date — not from whether a background task has run. TruzBiz additionally runs a scheduled daily review that records due and expired transitions and notifies the business.

Suspension and withdrawal take effect on the public record immediately: a suspended business is withheld from public view, and its verification page states plainly that the badge is not currently valid. A suspension can be lifted after review, restoring the prior state. A withdrawn (revoked) verification is terminal and cannot be restored by renewal — only a new verification can replace it.

If a status looks wrong — out of date, incorrect, or fraudulently obtained — anyone can report it. Businesses due for renewal can re-verify from their dashboard.
